GF9 is doing and updated version of Avalon Hill’s 1979 Dune. This is not going to be just an up-jumped reprint from the 2019 version, this will have tweaked rules, a slightly different combat system (a merger of the basic and advanced Dune combat from the older game) and most important, a single-ruleset rather than Basic/Advanced that has been a part of the game for many decades.
Here is the Gamefound link to the campaign (no start date yet).
Most importantly, below is a long video essay about the combat system changes and what went into the development of it by Jack Reda (Cosmic Encounter developer and in his own words ‘the one to blame’ about changes to Dune).
I’m looking forward to this as I think the 2019 version GF9 cranked out was OK, it could use some unified graphic and artistic design (this is a nice way of saying that I didn’t like the character art at all), and of course, the design updates I’m seeing so far look pretty great, even to a game that I have known and loved for many, many years.
