Pentecon 10 - Report

So this is a little bit late, since the tourney in question was held February 27, but what can I say, I've been busy. On Feb 27, 1998, I ran a Fist tourney at Pentecon 10 at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA. It was a relatively small affair; there were a total of seven players, one of whom arrived late and missed the first round. Prizes were two unlimited-edition Fist starters.
The contestants: (the deck descriptions may not be entirely accurate, since it's been a while since the event and I didn't write down much of anything about the decks played)

Ian Cyr, playing mono-Architects thugs and heavy denial
Keith Rice, playing mono-Dragon with lots of whuppin' sticks
Andrew Sacket, playing Lotus/Ascended with tricks (I think)
Peter Bakija, playing mono-Monarchs
Steve Wampler, playing mono-Ascended with Bull Markets
John Glass, playing Ascended/something (I think)
Eric Howd (late arrival), playing I'm not sure

What I had them play three rounds of semi-random pairings, with one four-player and one three-player game each round. After that, there was a four-player final. (We had three people in the lead after the second round, based on my slightly-dubious points system, so I put the four losers in what was effectively the wild-card game.) None of the rounds ever came close to timing out on the hour time limit I was using. We started the tourney around 8 pm and the whole thing was done well before 11 if I remember right.
The games:

Round 1:

John Glass vs Steve Wampler vs Peter Bakija:
Peter Bakija wins, 2nd to John Glass, 3rd to Steve Wampler
Andrew Sacket vs Keith Rice vs Ian Cyr:
Keith Rice wins, 2nd to Ian Cyr, 3rd to Andrew Sacket

Round 2:

Andrew Sacket vs Eric Howd vs Steve Wampler:
Andrew Sacket wins, 2nd to Steve Wampler, 3rd to Eric Howd
Keith Rice vs Peter Bakija vs John Glass vs Ian Cyr:
Peter Bakija wins, 2nd to Keith Rice, 3rd to John Glass, 4th to Ian Cyr

Round 3:

John Glass vs Steve Wampler vs Ian Cyr vs Eric Howd: (the wildcard game)
Ian Cyr wins, 2nd to Eric Howd, 3rd to Steve Wampler, 4th to John Glass
Andrew Sacket vs Peter Bakija vs Keith Rice: (the gratuitous game)
Keith Rice wins, 2nd to Andrew Sacket, 3rd to Peter Bakija

Finals:

Andrew Sacket vs Peter Bakija vs Keith Rice vs Ian Cyr:
Ian Cyr wins! (2nd to Keith Rice, 3rd to Andrew Sacket, 4th to Peter Bakija)
So Ian got the two starters, picked out the cards he wanted to keep, and allowed the losers to take some socialistic spoils.
Although I didn't get anything from the rest of the players, I did get a decklist from Ian, as the winner, and here it is:
