This week marked our move to the Traveling Mage - anyone in the area
is welcome to stop by - we will be playing Proving Grounds tourneys every
Wednesday night at 6pm at the Traveling Mage in Gainesville. The Mage has
a very nice set up with plenty of table space and a fridge full of sodas!
The procedes from these tournaments are being collected for the "Bring
Jose to Gainesville" fund. We hope to generate enough to fly Mr. Garcia
down for our local gaming con, JonesCon IV, in January. For more information
on JonesCon IV, check out the homepage at http://www.afn.org/~jonescon/.
The Contenders:
Tom Jam/Arc/Lot "Grassy Knoll" Camille Dra/Han "The Meek shall inherit the earth" Sandie Jam/Lot "Buncha Boom-Boom" John Asc/Han "The Mighty Pachyderms" Rick Lot/Mon "Netherworld Chainsaw Massacre II" Bill Lot/Arc "I'm Hungry!" Shawn Lot/Mon "A Walk in the Park" Sherry Jam/Dra/Arc "Tank Girl (The Movie)" Ray Dra/Han/Lot/Mon "Back for 3rds"Title Holders of the Past:
The Present:
Week 5: Rick brings back the "Netherworld Chainsaw Massacre" (Winner
Wk.3) to narrowly scrape out a 3rd consectutive win.
The White Ninja still seems to be the most popular hitter around -
everyone who has one is playing with her... and those who don't are playing
Evil Twins :) The Lotus were by far the most popular faction of the night,
appearing in 6 of the 9 decks.
The final round was a truly classic 'Fist bloodbath - Rick got out
an early Queen of the Toasting Pagoda which impacted onto Ray's City Park,
sparking an Avenging Thunder for 6 power. Ray suffered a hitter shortage,
and amassed truly obscene amounts of power by the end of the game. Tom
gets the early Entropy - usually a very bad sign. Camille managed to take
an early site with a Stunt Man/BFS, but no Final Brawls in sight. Rick
then gets out the White Ninja, followed shortly by the Fire King. Eventually,
the Ray's Inner Sanctum is filed down to a 1 body site which Rick is able
to take for the win, after failed attempts by both Tom & Camille. Lots
of people died. Some just went to the Netherworld. *Everyone* got bloody.
So, Rick got a White Ninja for his 1st place finish, and Camille got
a signed Healing Earth for 2nd. Tune in next week to see if Rick can stretch
the streak out to 4 weeks. Or will Ray reclaim his title. Or will someone
else take their place as "The Man"??? I will post a listing of the winning
deck in another article.
